Report – Feeding New York

A new report from the Community Development Project at the Urban Justice Center and Brandworkers, Feeding New York: Challenges and Opportunities for Workers in New York City’s Food Manufacturing Industry, is the first-ever report detailing worker’s experiences in the city’s growing food manufacturing industry. It exposes pervasive wage theft, discrimination, lack of job training and dangerous work conditions that impact this majority immigrant sector. The report was released at an event on June 24, 2014, highlighted by a lively panel discussion on workers in NY’s food industry.  The event was co-hosted by the Food Chain Workers Working Group of CFF, along with the NYC Food Policy Center at Hunter College and the CUNY School of Public Health, and The Joseph S. Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies
