Organized by the Five Borough Bike Club, this tour will visit four urban farms in three different boroughs; cross four bridges; and end with a BBQ and a celebratory ribbon cutting at Smiling Hogshead Ranch, marking its transition from guerrilla garden/farm to city-sanctioned urban farm.
Starting in Manhattan, the group will roll out to visit Randall’s Island’s Urban Farm; Manhattan’s Riverpark Farm; Red Hook’s Added Value; and then end in Long Island City at the Smiling Hogshead Ranch.
Gil Lopez, one of the leaders of Smiling Hogshead Ranch and an expert urban grower, will join the ride and will guide the group through each farm and the different growing methods employed.
