Hattie Carthan was chosen in recognition of their community-based principles, food production and food access programs, spiritual guidance and healing, and local leadership.

Groundswell Center will dig deep into their process of centering racial equity and anti-racist principles into their agricultural organization and discuss how to bring this work into your organization or foundation. As a non-profit with predominantly white leadership, Groundswell will examine staff/board development, relationship building, organizational policymaking, and systems for accountability.
Staring on March 18, 2020 with an emergency funder briefing and strategy call, CFF began hosting weekly funder-only calls to discuss the philanthropic response to food system needs resulting from the Covid-19 crisis.
